Hair dryer
A hair dryer is used to dry and style the hair by blowing warm or cool air. The hair dryer is one of the most useful appliances in hairdressing. Hand held dryers are well known for use in styling hair and are commonly used by both individuals and professional hair stylists. Particularly, women who like to make themselves prettier consider hair dryers a necessity. Hair dryers serve at least two primary functions. One function is to dry wet hair and the other is to facilitate hair styling. As more and more consumer attention is focused on the art of hair design and the growing hairdressing field, so too has consumer attention increased in hair design implements, such as the new dryer. During operation of an electric hair dryer, air from the outside environment is drawn into the interior of a body portion via an air inlet at the rear end of the body portion, and is forced out of the body portion via an air outlet at the front end of the body portion, by a fan in the body portion. To prevent dust in the air from entering into the interior of the body portion, a filter cover is provided at the rear end of the body portion to at least partially cover the air inlet for trapping the dust in the air, while allowing air to pass through. Hand-held hair dryers are typically designed to emit a concentrated flow of heated air from the dryer nozzle or barrel to quickly dry the user's hair. It is also known to modify the dryer to create a more diffuse flow of air, allowing the user to dry hair more gently. This diffuse flow is often beneficial during the styling process. Since the introduction of the hand-held hair dryer many features have been added to expand the utility of the product and improve its function. For example, hair dryers have ground fault interrupters (GFIs) on their power plugs for safety and may have shut offs for when they overheat. Multiple speeds and heat settings are now included on most models and some have a special one-touch cold setting. It is common for such dryers to be provided with a plurality of styling attachments, such as, but not limited to, combs for combing the hair while drying, diffusers for diffusing or dissipating the flow of air from the dryer barrel outlet to reduce the velocity of the dryer outlet air and spread the air over a larger surface area, and concentrators for concentrating and/or increasing the velocity of the air dispensed from the dryer barrel outlet. Many dryers now come in decorator colors with retractable cords and wall mountings.
