A manicure (nail enamel) is a kind of makeup for the fingernails. Manicure has long been one of intimate arts for improving the beauty of nails and fingers. Generally manicure is applied by one who wants her nails manicured by applying with a tiny brush to her nails an oily nail enamel procurable from a cosmetic store. Recently, however, care of fingers and manicure by cosmetologists have become popular and with that manicure technique has come to be fast improved. The manicure is a procedure in which the nails of a person's hand are cleaned, shaped, and polished. The adjacent cuticle region of the skin may also be treated. Similar procedures are also used for the nails of the feet. Various types of implements are used in performing the manicure. These implements include nippers of various types (including trimmers and scissors), pushers, curettes, rasps, and files. French manicures are a well known beauty technique. In a French manicure, a white coat of nail polish is applied along the very tip of the nail, imitating the natural look of the nail. Applying this white coat of polish requires a very steady hand to achieve the desired result. To help apply this coat, tip guides are often used.
