Eyeglass frame
Eyeglasses are indispensable for modern people in daily life. Eyeglasses are a necessary accessory to the many people who suffer from various forms of vision impairment. Eyeglass frames are commonly used around the world in conjunction with corrective lenses to aid persons who suffer from vision problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. Eyeglass frames are also commonly used in conjunction with tinted lenses as sunglasses to shield a person's eyes from the glare of the sun. Finally, eyeglass frames are also worn by some people as a fashion accessory. Eyeglasses must be fitted to the wearer's face. There are many adjustments and measurements that must be made to accomodate the prescription of the wearer, and to insure that the eyeglasses will be comfortable. Among these adjustments are the width of the frame, the pupil separation, the length of the temples, the pantoscopic angle, and the shape and size of the nosepiece. In general, an eyeglass frame is composed of several members, such as an eyeglass rim, a bridge, and a temple. A pair of eyeglass rims are connected to each other by the intervention of one or more bridges. The bridge is provided at the both ends with a couple of pad-holders each holding a pad. Each rim is provided at its outside with a rim lock connected to a temple by the use of a hinge and a screw. The members are made of many sorts of materials, such as metal and plastics. An eyeglass frame has a front part for supporting lenses or being supported by lenses, a pair of temples, and a pair of hinges for connecting the front part with a pair of temples. An eyeglass frame also has a pair of nose pads located between left and right lenses, and a pair of end pieces to be mounted to a pair of temples. The nose pads contact a user's nose, and a pair of end pieces contact user's ears, thereby the eyeglasses being supported on user's head. There are known a large number of eyeglass frames made out of metal as well as out of synthetic material. The metallic eyeglass frames usually have at the nose support side a cantilevered projecting arm made out of metal on which the nose support plate, made out of synthetic material, is movably mounted. In this way it is possible to support the eyeglasses on the nose via the support plates.
