Sunglasses
A wide variety of glasses with different functions have heretofore been provided, including sunglasses, optical glasses, etc. Protective eyewear or eyeglasses having tinted lenses are commonly used in connection with various sports and other activities to protect the participant's eyes. Eye protection is especially needed when the sport or other activity involves unshielded high-speed travel wherein the eyes are susceptible to being impacted by small particles of foreign matter at velocities which equal the rate of travel. Sunglasses are widely recommended and used when individuals are in direct or indirect sunlight. Excessive exposure to the sun's rays occurs frequently with sunbathers who lay on their backs or on recliners, facing the intense rays of the sun. Excessive exposure can damage retinas and is believed to be a contributing factor to the development of cataracts. An increased public awareness of the harmful effects of the sun has expanded the use of sun glasses. Current sunglasses provide only limited protection against direct exposure to the intense rays of the sun. The protective effect provided by sunglasses is important to mitigate the health risks associated with overexposure of the eyes to sunlight, particularly the ultraviolet (UV) component thereof. It is well known that overexposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun can cause or exacerbate cataracts, for example. Sunglasses are usually used to enhance a person's vision during extreme sunlight by filtering uncomfortable and damaging light rays. There are other times when a person may want to enhance their vision during different lighting conditions such as an overcast sky or dusk. Clip sunglass lenses in which a clip is clipped on a brim of a cap or sun visor so that polarized glass lenses are attached thereto have been known. Clip-on sunglasses are formed by colored lenses and a frame structure for the colored lenses. Such sunglass lenses can be used easily since the polarized glass lenses can be disposed in front of eyes without employing temples and/or nose pads, whereby they win popularity among constant users of sunglasses.
